How to get the highest return on your Internet investment?! Hire us!

What we understand about you:

You need what works! You need a unique, professional image which makes your product/mark/service memorable. The only way for this to happen is for your client to have a positive, memorable experience.

We will apply our talents & accumulated knowledge to your web site project to make you stand out from the crowd by designing and constructing a classy web site that works! Fast loading & focused on the content so that you can get back to concentrating on consolidating & furthering your organisation's objectives.

What we know about your prospective audience:

Your best customers (the most consistent purchases of your goods & services) are busy people. The chances of them waiting for a slow loading website drop significantly with every second. While it's true that the growing broadband infrastructure helps the speed significantly (if you're surfing just one web site); the temptations to go on tangents &/or multi-task with other Internet possibilities (and bandwidth needs) grow also. This extra bandwidth consumption (whether the user is compelled by glitzy providers of high quality video feeds, real-time weather reports or becomes a regular user of peer-2-peer, file sharing) can & often does happen in the background of a web browsing session.

What this boils down to is that while broadband allows consumers, more than ever, to harness the power of the Internet; the remaining speed & bandwidth for a browsing session (potentially surfing your web site) stays relatively low.

Your clients expect the best - your web site, other than being well designed & structured, has to be FAST & EFFICIENT in order to be a real winner!

This trend will only continue. More & more services are created & packaged for broadband consumption. Also the television is becoming more digital (with Internet like possibilities) all the time. So soon instead of multiple TVs in a home there will be multiple infotainment stations all sharing a broadband access network.

The Internet is a remarkable technology. Once you've been brought up with computers or been 'online' for a while, it is easy to take for granted the fact you can have instant or near instant communication with someone across the globe (without paying for it by the minute). Or send electronic mail (e-mail) with ease.

Thanks to electronic-fund-transaction technologies we now have the ability to run 'virtual' shops online and receive payments through established credit card systems.

Amazing benefits such as unstaffed 24/7 access to your organisation's portfolio, product information or services. And with statistics like these, who can ignore the fast-growing local and international markets that can be found on the Internet?

  • 67% of Australian Households own or lease a PC.
  • 52% of Australian households were connected to the Internet.
  • 72% of Australians aged 16yrs and over have regular access to the Internet.

A website can complement or replace your traditional marketing tools, such as brochures and direct mail OR it can be an integral part of your operation. Whether as a cutomer portal to disseminate your valuable information or as a point of contact for your in-house operation.

  • The Internet is still fairly young.
  • Start now, while the bigger opportunities are still around.
  • Depending on your market, your competition is weak; most small business websites die deaths of quiet desperation from zero traffic. Start now, while the savvy competitor is still a rare breed.

wearable computersRelated Technologies Affecting the Future of the Internet

Every year we are being bombarded with fancier electronic toys. Mobile, micro computers with power for even the most discerning user. Laptops have been around a while but now an equivalent machine can almost fit into a walkman, minus the monitor atleast. Now we have goggles or glasses which can replace the traditional viewing screen creating a far more immersive experience. The final step is called Augmented Reality which dynamically integrates the real world with what is on the 'screen'. So normal looking glasses which have a semi-transparent 'screen' overlaying the real world view with a camera & sophisticated software linking the two. This has many uses for industry as well as lesiure activities.

Most of these 'wearable computers' only require a wireless network port or hub to quickly connect to a network or the Internet. Already we have Internet-ready fridges. Eventually many will have access to digital TV which will quickly lead the way to an affordable computer projector system incorporating digital TV, the Internet & a videophone system (based around VOIP. ie. Voice Over IP) & more. At present one can create a simpler version of such a system by using a computer with an extra tv facility to access regular TV through the PC or using a new Xbox which runs Windows. Otherwise more sophisticated systems are custom built for clients incorporating everything from satellite TV to alarm systems & curtain closers all controlled from a single web page control panel. These more advanced functionalities are already big business but only for those with the big dollars to invest. But once this becomes an affordable option and the average consumer and even the most illiterate computer person will be surfing the multimedia as they traverse TV stations, TV guides, sponsors' advertisements and the Internet all in a few clicks of the remote. Providing a vastly more rich diversity of media 'channels' for organisations to get involved with.

UNDERSTANDING WEBSITE COSTS

Most people starting out on the Internet have no idea what a professionally designed website will cost. If you are expecting to have a site designed for $200, you may go into "sticker shock." If you are expecting to pay $20,000 to $30,000, you are going to be greatly relieved. Websites vary in complexity. Depending on the features you need, you could pay anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

WEBSITE COST DRIVERS

It is impossible to tell you exactly what your site will cost because there are so many factors that drive the final cost of a website.

The following items are the most common cost drivers in any website...

1. Registering a domain name
2. Hosting your site
3. Designing your site
4. Maintaining your site
5. Paying search engine registration fees

Choosing and Registering a Domain Name

Registering a domain name (www.yourname.com) is the easiest and cheapest part of getting a website. You can register a domain name for about $30-50 per year. The registration needs to be renewed every year, or you can just register the name for several years. For most businesses, the .com version of the domain is the only one you'll need. If you can't get the .com domain name you want, either create an alternative name or consider the .net, .org, .us (or other country suffix), or .biz versions - but it's best to have the .com.

Hosting Your Site

To get your website on the Internet, you have to rent space on a computer that has high speed Internet access. This is called hosting. Hosting prices typically run from $20 to $30 per month for full service hosting. There may also be an initial set up fee. Some firms require yearly payments in advance and others require monthly payments. If you shop around, you can find cheaper hosting, but you may give up important features.

Selection of a host can be a tough decision. You have to carefully compare costs and features, and if you aren't familiar with computers and the Internet, it is hard to make informed decisions. One of the advantages of hiring a design firm is that these decisions are taken care of for you. Many designers provide hosting as part of their services. Those designers who do not offer hosting usually have a working relationship with someone who does.

Designing Your Site

Designing your site is where the bulk of the expense comes in, and it is impossible to define a generic cost. Prices are driven by

* What you want and need in your site
* The designer's hourly rate
* The size of your site
* Software development (e.g., JavaScripts, CGI, etc.)
* Custom artwork
* Copywriting

Prices for a four or five page site will vary from $600 to $800 for "package deals" to thousands of dollars for a custom design. Some package deals are a good value for the money because the designers will be focused on developing a good marketing tool for your business. Other designers will put your submissions into a pre-made format and put it online, whether or not this design is right for you. Fortunately, you can tell the difference between these two very quickly by talking to them on the phone.

If you want a custom designed website to display your products and services with nice features like online forms and custom artwork, then $1,500 to $4,500 is a reasonable price.

Maintaining Your Site

Once your site is on the Internet, keeping it there can be fairly cheap. To keep your site online, you have to pay your monthly hosting fee and annual domain name renewal. You can keep a site on the Internet for less than $30 per month. If you maintain your site yourself, or if your website needs no updating, there are no site maintenance charges. If you decide to have someone else maintain, update, and track the performance of your site, you can expect to pay for an hour or two per month at $50 to $100 per hour.

THE BOTTOM LINE

It depends on what you need in your site and on how much work your designer has to do. The only way to get a good estimate for your site is to decide & preferably write down what you need as carefully as possible.
